Water-in-oil formulations are emulsions in which the continuous phase is an oil phase. The choice of adjuvant takes into account the type of oil phase and the percentage of oil used (20%-70%) based on the expected properties of the vaccine.
Formulate stable water-in-oil emulsions at medium or high shear rates.
Characteristics: Can induce a long-term immunoprotective response. Balance of vaccine effectiveness and safety is achieved by adjusting the type of oil phase.
